Great question. My very instinctual take is that up until this 'modern' era, our evolutionary path has been one which required the great majority of us to focus on and learn the ways of the interface. That is how we were able to move so efficiently (though some would say inefficiently) to this current evolutionary status... but as we are now mostly masters of the interface, the next evolutionary impulse is one that will take us into understanding the mechanics that generate our interface so we can alter it if need be. This opens a whole new realm of complications and challenges - which I took up in depth in a response to a comment on my 'The Revolution is Quantum' piece.
But yeah, to your question, just as it the early 1920s were the evolutionary moment for people to start grasping quantum mechanics, now imo its now time for a much broader grasping of these truths. And hence, you can also view some of what is going on at the state and elite levels as reaction - conscious or unconscious - to threats to that archaic story of a deterministic reality...
